Police Chief Edward J. Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department will have a presence at city schools on Wednesday in the aftermath of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.
The increased presence is not due to any particular threat. Police will be on hand as a precaution to help greet students, teachers, staff and parents during this difficult time.
In addition to the department’s heightened police presence, the department’s five School Resource Officers will also be actively monitoring all district schools. Anyone with concerns regarding school safety is encouraged to reach out to their SROs.
